Yakov Smirnoff is a legend in American comedy. After escaping the Soviet Union in 1977, he arrived in the U.S. with a dream. Starting as a bartender at Grossinger’s Catskill Resort, he entertained guests with jokes, quickly gaining popularity. Mitzi Shore the owner of The Comedy Store urged him to stay in Hollywood, recognizing his unique talent. Yakov became a star, performing on "The Tonight Show," starring in his own sitcom, and acting in films alongside Hollywood greats. Now an educator with a doctorate in Global Leadership, he continues to inspire with his message: America is still, “What a Country!”
